Onondoga, NY ... Genesee's Women's Volleyball team put up a strong effort this weekend against Onondga's Lazers and Corning's Red Barons. The Cougars finished with a score of 3-2 in favor of Onondoga and 3-2 in favor of Corning, both games coming down to the wire in 5 sets.
Game 1:
Gabriella Zitz led the offense with 10 kills, while also adding 4 blocks, showing her versatility on both ends of the court. Ashley Blair followed with 16 digs and an outstanding 25 assists, and Brooke Chiaramonte with a team-high 18 digs and 2 aces.
Emmi Veras and Sloan Jonathan each chipped in with 6 kills, and Hayley Eaton added 6 kills and 3 blocks.
Game 2:
Brooke Chiaramonte and Ashley Blair led the offense with 6 kills each, while Kaylee Burns added 5. Holly Bykowski anchored the defense with 25 digs, Burns and Blair chipped in with 16 and 15 digs respectively. Bykowski also served up 4 aces, helping Genesee stay competitive in the tight match.
The team will take on Mohawk Valley CC in an away match on Saturday September 20th. Start time is TBD.
