BATAVIA, NY – Genesee's women's volleyball took on SUNY Broome's Hornets at home last night. Final score being 3-1 in favor of Genesee. The team battled back from a first-set loss to defeat SUNY Broome Community College 3-1. The Cougars won three straight sets to secure the comeback victory.
Genesee fell just short in a tight first set, losing 26-24. But the team came alive after that, winning the next three sets by scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-21 to clinch the match.
The offense was a team effort. Kylee Kolbash led with 10 kills, while Gabriella Zitz and Michaela Hartter each added 8 kills. Setter Ashley Blair had a fantastic game with a team-high 29 assists, helping set up the attack.
On defense, the Cougars were led by Kylee Kolbash, who had a match-high 16 digs, and Holly Bykowski, who added 13.
The team will take on SUNY Adirondack and Hudson Valley in a POD this weekend at Jamestown Community College, time is still TBA.
