Soccer adds Scheifla
On April 1st, Sienna Scheifla committed to the Genesee Women's Soccer team for the 2026 season. Sienna is a 5'3" center back who started 3 years for the Alden Varsity girls' soccer team and has recorded 2 goals and 6 assists. Scheifla is a ECIC First-Team recipient her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was also a captain her junior and senior year, MVP her senior year, and received the Letterman Award during her senior year as well. She plays for the WNY Flash and Alden Travel Soccer Team as well as playing basketball and track for her school. Sienna has been on High Honor Roll since her freshman year and partakes in National Honor Society, Athletic Club, and Donate Life Club. She plans to major in Physical Education while attending GCC.
Sienna is not the first Genesee recruit from Alden. Her sister, Savanna, played for the team in 2023 and 2024, and Grace Pastuszynski was on the team in 2021 when the Cougars won their Conference, the Regional title, and appeared in the National Tournament. Grace was also the MVP during Regional finals. "Sienna knows exactly what we expect from our athletes because Sav played for us. We're excited to have another Scheifla on the team and especially excited to have another talented local player," stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt. Savanna not only played soccer for Jeff, but she also played lacrosse. After her sophomore season, she went on to be recruited at SUNY Morrisville where she plays both sports.
Jeff and Assistant Coach Macy have been meeting with a lot of recruits and have some more commitments coming up. The Cougars ended their 2025 season in the National Tournament with a 13-4-2 record, where they ended up 4th in the country overall.
