BATAVIA, NY ... Genesee's Women's Soccer team took home the Region III B title this past weekend against Jefferson Community College. In a close battle, it came down to the wire, where Piper Hyde would eventually put one in the net to then send the team to the National Tournament. They will travel to Herkimer Community College on November 11th for the first round of play and to compete for a chance at the National Title.
They are seeded as the #6 seed and are set to play #3 RCSJ - Gloucester in the Quarter-Finals round.
The team is led by a few key players this season as they head into the tournament:
Sophomore Samantha Bates, the MSAC Player of the Year recipient, leads the team with 14 total goals this season, while also sitting second in assists with 13.
Sophomore Emma Brady, the Region III Player of the Year recipient, sits at the top with 14 total assists for the team this season, adding 6 goals on top of that.
Freshman Natalie Prinzi, the Region III Tournament MVP is a dominant force in the net, only allowing 7 total goals this season with 59 saves, earning her a hude .894 save percentage.
