Women's Basketball wins in narrow victory

BATAVIA, NY...Genesee's women's basketball team defeated North Country Community College with a final score of 73-71, a narrow victory secured by a final shot from Elle Peterson in the final seconds.

Sydney Reilly was the top performer, posting a double-double with a team-high 25 points (10-of-23 FGM-A) and 11 total rebounds (5 offensive, 6 defensive), while proving highly effective from beyond the arc by sinking 5 three-pointers (5-of-10 3PM-A). Jaimin Macdonald also made a significant impact, adding 19 points and 6 total rebounds, and led the team with 3 steals. As a team, the Cougars shot 40.0% from the field (24-of-60) and were effective from three-point range, shooting 43.8% (7-of-16), while holding a rebounding advantage with 40 total rebounds.

In the final seconds of the game all tied up 71-71, Sophomore Elle Peterson would make a 2 point layup off of an offensive rebound to put the Cougars up 73-21 with only seconds left. Ultimately, North Country would not be able to drive the ball up the court fast enough and the Cougars would take home the win.

The team will compete back at home on December 10th against Jamestown Community College at 5:00pm.
