The No. 3 Genesee Community College men's soccer team shutout visiting Mohawk Valley to advance to the Region-III Championship with a 6-0 victory Oct. 25.
Sam Hall's header from a Philip Melo corner kick stood as the game winner after seven minutes of play.
Three Cougars were in on multiple goals with Shahin Tahir Nasabi leading the way with a pair of goals. Hiago Barros de Souza and James Lighton each added a goal and an assist for three-point evenings.
Jack Sharman-Dodd rounded out the Cougar goal scoring, while Rodrigo Albuquerque and Hijiri Sano each added assists.
Adrian Bergman and Matthies Meyer split the clean sheet for Genesee. It was the Cougars' 12th shutout win of the season.
The Cougars out-shot the Hawks 32-7 and held the edge in corner kicks, 13-3.
Genesee has now won its last four games as it moves on to the District A Region-III Championship game against Onondaga Oct. 28 in Dryden with a 12:30 p.m. start.
