GCC Cougars Baseball fell 13-8 to Corning Community College on Saturday in a high-scoring contest. Despite racking up 11 hits, the Cougars couldn't overcome a six-run second inning by Corning, which featured an inside-the-park grand slam.
Genesee took an early lead in the first after an RBI double by Yageric, but found themselves trailing until a six-run rally in the fourth. Davey and Rightmyer led the Cougars with two hits apiece, while Davey and Savage each finished with two RBIs. The team was active on the base paths with seven stolen bases, including two from Davey, and the defense turned two double plays.
Clark took the loss in relief, while the pitching staff struggled with command, issuing nine walks on the day.
The Cougars look to sharpen their play in their next outing against SUNY Niagara for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
