The Genesee Community College women's basketball team continued its strong start to the early part of the 2018-19 season as it defeated the Howard Community College Dragons on Sunday afternoon, 90-54 to improve its record to 6-1.
The Cougars had balanced scoring in the opening half, led by Molly Buck and Tylasia Weaver who each scored nine points, and GCC had a 19-point lead at halftime. Weaver recorded a double-double when all was said and done with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Buck finished the game with a double-double, scoring 18 points with 10 rebounds. Sophomore TaLia Burgess had a strong second-half for the Cougars, scroring 12 of her 18 points in the third and fourth quarters, and she also grabbed eight boards on the afternoon.
Genesee returns home on December 5th as they host Villa Maria College at 5 pm. The game will be streamed live on geneseeathletics.com
