Thursday night will mark the last regular season game of the year for the GCC women's basketball team when the Cougars welcome Monroe Community College to the Anthony T. Zambito Gymnasium.
Genesee is 5-20 this year and 0-8 in the Western New York Athletic Conference, still in search of its first conference win since the end of the 2011-12 season.
Monroe (23-3) will enter Thursday night's contest on a nine-game winning streak, tied for the longest winning stretch this season for the Tribunes.
Last time out:
Genesee lost in its last regular season road game on Feb. 13 at Jamestown Community College, 78-46. Shanell Glover scored 11 points and Dashawna Jenifer added 10 to lead the Cougars. GCC grabbed just 10 offensive rebounds, tying the second-lowest total in a game this season.
Monroe won its ninth game in a row on Feb. 15 at home against Erie Community College, 87-40. Four players were in double figures in scoring for the Tribunes, led by Ayana Ratliff who finished with 19 points. Dionne Coe added 16 and Bailey Hixson and Tyra Jones each scored 11. MCC forced 26 turnovers and held ECC to just 27 percent shooting.
What to watch for:
Genesee shot just 23.9 percent from the field, including 1-8 from three-point range in the first meeting against Monroe on Jan. 18.
Breana Gleaton scored a game high 19 points in the first meeting at MCC.
GCC is 4-10 at home this season, Monroe is a combined 11-3 in neutral site and road games.
