The Genesee Community College volleyball team will start a four-date road trip on Thursday when the Cougars head to Mercyhurst North East for a Region III Division II tilt against the Saints.
Genesee (15-14) will continue its road stretch when it travels to the Hagerstown Community College (MD) tournament this weekend and play at Niagara County Community College on Oct. 14 before returning home on Oct. 16.
MNE (2-9) recently snapped a seven-game losing streak, but the Saints have dropped eight of their last nine contests.
Last time out:
GCC defeated Finger Lakes Community College in four sets on Sep. 30. Nohema Garcia Torres recorded 37 assists and three aces, Haley Case tallied 12 kills and four aces and Ai Miyazaki finished with 23 digs and 12 kills.
Mercyhurst dropped a 3-0 match at home to Cayuga Community College on Sep. 30. Cierra Jackson led the Saints with 13 digs and nine kills, Tamia Puckett added 10 digs and one ace and MAckenzie Turner had 18 assists.
What to watch for:
Genesee leads the season series with Mercyhurst, 1-0. The Cougars defeated the Saints at home on Sep. 9, 3-0.
GCC is 28-1 vs. MNE since 2005.
Genesee is 13-13 in road and/or neutral site games this season.
