Coming off of a tournament win at the Community College of Rhode Island, The GCC women's volleyball team will put its seven-match win streak on the line at home on Thursday night when the Cougars welcome Monroe Community College to the Anthony T. Zambito Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. start.
Genesee (12-11) won six consecutive matches at the CCRI tournament and did not lose a set throughout the weekend.
Monroe (13-0) has started the season unbeaten and will travel to GCC for its only scheduled matchup with the Cougars this fall.
Last time out:
Genesee defeated the Community College of Rhode Island in the CCRI tournament finals on Sep. 21, 3-0. Nohema Garcia Torres totaled 28 assists and nine digs, Ai Miyazaki had 15 digs and 10 kills and Haley Case finished with 18 digs and five aces. The win capped off a 6-0 weekend for GCC.
Monroe won on the road at Cayuga Community College, 3-0. Jessica Jenkins had 11 digs, Rose Ayala and Sarah Graham had seven kills apiece and Montana Vescovi finished with 33 assists.
What to watch for:
Genesee has not lost to MCC since 2008. The Cougars are 7-0 vs. the Tribunes since 2009.
GCC's seven-match win streak matches the longest such streak since 2011.
MCC has only lost a combined four sets in 13 matches so far this fall.
