The No. 4 Genesee Community College women's soccer team came back to defeat Mohawk Valley CC on Saturday afternoon, erasing a second half deficit to beat the Hawks, 3-1.
Genesee was forced to play the majority of the first half and all of the second with 10 players after being assessed a red card and the Hawks scored in the 25th minute of the first half to take a 1-0 lead and carried it into the second half.
Shawna Adams broke through for GCC in the 61st minute with a goal off an assist from Carly Stefani. Adams gave Genesee the lead just over a minute later in the 62nd minute and then completed the hat-trick in the 70th minute off an assist from Taylor Miller to give GCC a 3-1 lead.
Genesee out-shot MVCC 28-6 and goalkeeper Katlynne Tubo made four saves in net.
GCC (4-0) will travel to Corning CC on Sept. 9 for a 3 p.m. start.
