The Genesee Community College women's soccer team was recently recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for its work in the classroom in 2014-2015. Genesee received honorable mention honors as an NJCAA All-Academic Team.
Team members include Shawna Adams, Emily Alvut, Kaileigh DiSalvo, Hannah Dominesey, Kayla Doyle, Autumn Edlen, Allison Jackson, Micalah Klejment, Marilyn Leto, Mariah Liedmann, Sarah Loranty, Ashley Makowski, Megan Mase, Nikki Mauro, Taylor Miller, Mariah Niemiec, Rachel Oliver, Claudia Passarell, Maddie Potter, Kelsey Schmitt, Karissa Schuster, Kathryn Springsteen, Carly Stefani, Drew VanBuren, Mia Velletta, Christina Woodworth and Danielle Zale.
Since 1993, the NJCAA has recognized the team with the highest overall grade-point average for their sport and gender with the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Award. Teams that qualify with an overall grade-point average of at least a 3.0 receive honorable mention recognition. The Cougars combined for a grade point average of 3.08 and were one of 38 women's soccer programs in the country that received honorable mention honors.
