A pair of sophomores from the Genesee Community College women's soccer program recently signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at four-year colleges beginning in the fall.
Goalkeeper Maddie Potter (Oakfield, NY) has committed to Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA. The Presidents are National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) members at the Division III level and participate in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Potter was a two-year starter at GCC and was named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American as a freshman in 2013. She was named All-Region III and All-Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) in both her freshman and sophomore seasons and leaves the program as the all-time leader in career shutouts (18) and shutouts in a single season (11).
She will receive both athletic and academic scholarship to attend W&J and plans to study business.
Forward Kathryn Springsteen (Byron-Bergen, NY) has committed to Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC. The Crusaders compete at the NCAA Division II level and participate in the Conference Carolinas.
Springsteen was named All-WNYAC Conference both seasons at GCC and leaves the program after playing 34 games, scoring 12 goals and assisting on 14 during her two-year stay.
She will receive both athletic and academic scholarship to attend Belmont Abbey and plans to study Sports Management.
