Back in the rankings of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Poll, the No. 10 Genesee Community College women's soccer team will return home Saturday to host Onondaga Community College in its first of three straight home games to end the regular season.
Genesee (9-3) has won eight of its last nine contests and went 4-1 on its recently-ended road trip.
Onondaga (10-4-1) has secured its second consecutive 10-win season and are winners of four of its last five.
Last time out:
GCC won 5-0 on the road at Jamestown Community College on Oct. 8. Shawna Adams recorded a hat-trick, scoring three times to increase her season total to 14 goals. Kayla Doyle and Ashley Makowski scored a goal apiece and Maddie Potter made two saves to earn her 12th career shutout win at GCC, a record for the College.
OCC defeated Erie Community College at home on Oct. 8, 6-1. Six different players scored a goal for the Lazers.
What to watch for:
All but one of GCC's nine victories this season have been shutout victories (6-1 win vs. Bryant & Stratton on 9/18).
The Cougars have not allowed a goal to opposing teams at home so far this season.
OCC is currently 3rd in the Region III Division III standings. GCC is 4th.
