Cougars Shut Out Thunderwolves 16-0

The Cougars cruised past Niagara County Community College on Wednesday afternoon 16-0 to improve to 2-1 in Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) play this season. Genesee's shutout is the first in the program's history.

Kaleigh Murray and Kaci Asper led the offense with five goals apiece and Murray also had two assists. Ashley Makowski recorded a hat trick and had four assists and Taylor Miller, Kate Springsteen and Mackenzie Wood each added a goal.

Makowski also had six ground balls and three takeaways and Murray had 15 draw controls and four takeaways. Wood recorded four ground balls and two draw controls and Mariah Pepe added two ground balls.

Genesee took a 10-0 lead into halftime and scored all six goals of the second half.

Katya Oakes and Marisa Carline each played a half in net and combined to make three saves.

Genesee (2-4, 2-1) will next travel to Mohawk Valley Community College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. face-off.
