The most successful season in Genesee Community College women's lacrosse history has a chance to continue into the postseason as the Cougars will play Herkimer County Community College on Saturday for the right to compete in the Region III tournament.
Genesee (5-3) currently holds the fourth and final playoff spot and will control its own destiny against the Generals. The Cougars are coming off back-to-back wins.
Herkimer (4-5) would get into the playoffs ahead of Genesee with a win. The Generals have dropped their last two contests.
Last time out:
Genesee came back to defeat Niagara County Community College in overtime on Wednesday, 11-10. The Cougars trailed 7-1 early in the second half but fought back and tied the game in the final minutes to send it to overtime. Denae McGrath scored the equalizer and then put in the game-winner 29-seconds into the extra period. GCC shut Niagara down the rest of the six-minute overtime and earned the road win.
Herkimer lost to No. 2 Monroe Community College on Apr. 19, 15-1. The Generals scored their lone goal in the closing minutes of the first half and were outshot 22-3 on the afternoon. Courtney Canavan scored for HCCC.

The winner of Saturday's game will join Onondaga Community College, Monroe Community College and Jefferson Community College in the Region III playoffs.
