The Genesee Community College women's basketball team will put its two-game Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) win streak on the line on Thursday night when the Cougars host No. 13 Niagara County Community College.
Genesee (6-14, 2-2) has matched its conference win total from last season and is No. 3 in the WNYAC/Region III Division II standings behind Niagara County CC and Monroe CC.
Niagara County (22-2, 3-1) won 18 straight games before losing to Monroe CC on Jan. 21 and the Thunderwolves hold the No. 2 ranking in the conference.
LAST TIME OUT:
Genesee defeated Mercyhurst North East at home on Tuesday night, 64-57. Karley Fanning scored a game high 25 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. Thais Matté did all of her damage from three-point range and the free-throw line and ended the night with 11 points and a game high eight assists. Brionna Blocker ended the first quarter with six-straight points for Genesee and finished with 10 points and four steals and Nakakoji Kiyomi and Abagail Kamysz each scored five points apiece.
Niagara County won on the road at Jamestown Community College, 76-49. The Thunderwolves held JCC to just 20 second half points and forced 34 Jayhawks turnovers. Taliyah Hopkins led all scorers with 20 points and Peyton butts added 14.
