Coming off of its first Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) win of the season on Jan. 21, the Genesee Community College women's basketball team will play its second of five consecutive home games on Tuesday night against Mercyhurst North East.
Genesee (5-14, 1-2) is 2-2 in its last four games and can match last season's WNYAC win total with a win on Tuesday.
MNE (3-8, 1-1) has lost four out of its last five and has split its first two WNYAC games this season.
LAST TIME OUT:
Genesee picked up its first conference win of the season on Jan. 21 over Erie CC, 71-58. Karley Fanning finished with a game high 22 points and collected seven rebounds. Brionna Blocker added 18 points, six boards and four assists, Thais Matté and Abagail Kamysz each scored 11 points apiece and Kamysz also grabbed eight rebounds.
Mercyhurst NE lost a non-conference game at home to Villa Maria College on Jan. 23, 54-46. Jaida Dixon and Kelsey Brooks scored 17 and 16 points respectively and Kym Braine grabbed 25 rebounds and scored 13 points. The Saints committed 27 turnovers and shot just 26.2-percent from the floor.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
Genesee's last win over Mercyhurst NE came on Feb. 3, 2011 (0-8 since then).
Mercyhurst sophomore Kym Braine leads the country in rebounds per game with 15.1.
