The Genesee Community College women's basketball team split a pair of games at its holiday classic tournament this weekend, defeating Durham College (Ont.) on Saturday 75-65 and falling to Community College of Rhode Island 76-50 on Sunday.
Clarissa Walker led all scorers on Saturday against Durham with 30 points, a career high, and collected 14 rebounds
Thias Matté hit four 3-pt baskets and on her way to 20 points and Brionna Blocker and Karly Fanning each finished with eight points apiece. Blocker also dished out a team high eight assists and also had two blocks.
GCC forced 18 Durham turnovers and turned them into 18 points.
The Cougars managed to hit just 3 of 18 three-point shot attempts on Sunday against CCRI and were outrebounded 42-30.
Walker again led the team in points with 15 and she added 11 boards. Blocker finished with 12 points, Matté added 10 and Fanning finished with nine points, five assists and four rebounds.
Walker and Matté were named to the all-tournament team for GCC.
Genesee moves to 3-9 on the season and will return to action on Wednesday on the road at Lakeland CC for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
