The Cougars dug themselves an early hole against Jefferson CC on Sunday afternoon and could not dig out of it, falling for the second time in as many days.
JCC jumped out to a first quarter lead after beginning the game on a 17-7 run. The Cannoneers combined to hit four 3-pt baskets in the first half and led 27-18 at the break.
Karly Fanning scored 10 of her game high 17 points in the second half and Genesee got to within five at 29-24 with just under eight minutes to play in the third, but Jefferson used a 10-4 run to extend its lead and GCC never got closer than eight the rest of the way, falling 59-45.
Fanning also grabbed a game high 15 rebounds, recording her third double-double of the year. Clarissa Walker added 10 points and seven boards and Brionna Blocker and Thais Matté each scored six points apiece. Blocker also blocked six shots and Matté dished out three assists.
Genesee (2-7) will next take the floor on Wednesday night at home against Villa Maria College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 P.M.
