Genesee Splits in Home Tri-Meet

The Genesee Community College swimming and diving team split its tri-meet against Monroe CC and Jamestown CC on Wednesday night, topping JCC by a combined score of 148-141 and falling to MCC 247-102.

Miranda Dunton earned a pair of first place finishes, winning the 200 free with a finishing time of 2:11.00 and topping the 500 free with a final time of 5:56.56. Dunton paired with Heather Farrell, Islelie Silvanie and MiKenna Carpenter to win the first event of the night, pacing the 200 medley relay by just under seven seconds (2:07.77).

Lyle Wagner led the Cougars on the men's side with two individual wins, taking first in the 200 IM (2:10.38) and the 100 butterfly (55.95). Wagner also captured a relay win with Kyle Podlaski, Thomas Richardson and Jason Woerner, winning the 400 free with a finishing time of 3:42.04.

Genesee will now move on to the Region III/District Championships Feb. 12-14 at host site Monroe CC.
