The Genesee Community College Athletics Department recently announced that Taylor Maurer will take over the role as head softball coach on an interim appointment beginning June 1st. She will take over for former head coach Cassie Moore who is stepping down after two seasons.
Maurer spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the program and played for GCC from 2009-2010.
"Taylor will continue to move the program in the right direction," said GCC Athletics Director Kristen Schuth. "As a former member of the program, she has a vested interest in the college and wants to provide the same positive experience for her student-athletes that she had as a player and student."
Genesee finished the 2015 season 25-11 and won the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) title for the first time in school history. The Cougars advanced to the Region III Group B Finals for the first time since 2010.
Maurer holds a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources from SUNY Cortland.
