The Genesee Community College softball team swept another doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, defeating Jefferson Community College 10-2 and 15-4.
The Cougars scored in each of their at bats in game one, which went five innings and ended via the mercy rule. Dani Wilshire reached on an error to lead off a five-run second inning and came around to score on a two-run double from Kelsey Schmitt.
Shannon Baker held the Cannoneers to two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out nine. She went the distance to earn the win.
Schmitt and Chelsey Ruzewski each had two hits and scored twice, Georgie Miller added two hits and scored a run, Karissa Schuster went 2-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Bailee Welker drove in a pair.
Welker and Wilshire both went 3-5 for Genesee in game two, which scored in every inning but the fourth in a 6-inning win.
Kristin Hohn threw all six innings to pick up the win on the mound and gave up four runs (three earned) on eight hits and struck out seven.
Ruzewski scored three runs and collected three hits, Schuster and Welker both scored twice and Andrea Torres went 2-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored.
Genesee (11-7) returns to action on Monday in a home doubleheader against Mercyhurst North East beginning at 3 p.m.
