Shannon Baker struck out 14 and scattered two runs on eight hits in seven innings of work in game one against the Lakers to earn the win on the mound.

Genesee sent all nine batters to the plate in the second and scored four times to take the lead. Kelsey Schmitt, Dani Wilshire and Chelsey Ruzewski each delivered a hit and scored a run.

The Lakers scored a run in the third to get to within 4-1, but a sacrifice fly from Elizabeth Meyers in the fourth got the run back for GCC.

FLCC crossed the plate once more in the fifth, but Baker shut the door and GCC earned an 8-2 win in game one.

Bailee Welker went 3-4 with two RBI's and a run scored, Ruzewski scored three runs and collected two hits and Schmitt went 2-4 with a run scored.

Wilshire accounted for the first run in game two with a solo homerun in the second to put GCC in front 1-0.

The Cougars held a 5-1 lead after six, but the Lakers rallied to score five times in the seventh to take the lead.

Genesee went quietly in the seventh to fall 6-5 in game two.

Meyers collected two hits and scored two runs in game two, Angel Hargrove went 1-3 with a run scored and Karissa Schuster added a hit and scored a run.

Kristin Hohn went 6 and 2/3 on the mound and allowed six runs on eight hits and struck out three.

Genesee (5-6) returns to action at home tomorrow in a doubleheader against Mercyhurst North East beginning at 3 p.m.
