HERKIMER, NY; The Genesee Cougars stepped out on to the pitch tonight at Herkimer College in a bid to retain their NJCAA Men's Soccer national title. The Cougars faced a resilient and disciplined Bunker Hill team whose constant pressing would be admired by anyone. Bunker Hill threw everything they could at the defending national champions, however their efforts would be wasted. The Cougars took the lead just three minutes into the game after a cross from Ed Port, having taken on a number of players down the left hand side, that was deflected into the goal by a Bunker Hill defender. The second goal came after a long period of goalless play with around 5 minutes left in the half, Rodrigo Albuquerque was the scorer after he received a pass from Matheus Araujo.
The Cougars will continue their title defence tomorrow, Friday November 9th, against Richland with a 6:30pm kickoff.
