Stone Commits to Division I Wright State University

Genesee Community College men's soccer forward William Stone (Littlehampton, UK) recently committed to Wright State University, signing a National Letter of Intent to join the Raiders' soccer program beginning in the fall.

Stone, a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American, two-time Region III Player of the Year, Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) Freshman Male Athlete of the Year in 2015, and two time all-region and all-conference selection, led the country in points in 2016 with 66. He was third in the country with 23 goals and second in assists with 20 during his sophomore campaign, and leaves Genesee as the all-time career leader in total points (134) and goals scored (48), and second in assists (38). He started 38 out of the 39 games he played with the Cougars.

Stone helped Genesee to back-to-back regional titles and national tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016, including a third place national finish last fall. He is part of a sophomore class that tallied 36 wins in two years at GCC.

Wright State is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I member school and competes in the Horizon League. The Raiders played to an 11-6-3 record in 2016, advancing to the Horizon League Tournament Finals under eighth year head coach Bryan Davis.

Stone will receive athletic scholarship to attend Wright State and will study Sports Science.
