HERKIMER, NY: The No. 1 nationally-ranked Genesee Community College men's soccer team ended its 2015 season with a win on Friday, defeating Herkimer College 1-0 in the consolation game of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament.
Austin Richardson scored the game's only goal in the 51st minute on a penalty kick to send the Cougars to the one-goal win.
GCC keeper Connor Halsted turned away all three shots he faced on the afternoon to preserve a shutout in a solid defensive effort by the Cougars. It was the 11th shutout win of the season for Genesee.
The Cougars end the year with a 20-1 overall record, setting the school mark for most victories in a single season.
