Playing in its first game since claiming the No. 1 ranking in the country, the Genesee Community College men's soccer team made it 14 wins in a row after defeating visiting Jamestown Community College 5-1.
Needing just two goals to break the single season school record, Ricard Fernandez-Sarro wasted little time, netting two first half goals to set a new mark with 28 on the season. His goals came in the 21st and 35th minutes.
Jack Speakman scored the game's first goal in the 12th minute to give GCC a 1-0 lead. The score came off of a free kick.
The Cougars went into the half with a 4-0 lead after Rafael Godoi scored in the 39th minute off of an assist from Fernandez-Sarro.
The Jayhawks broke through with their only goal of the game in the 62nd minute, but managed only 2 shots on goal in the match.
Genesee (14-0) travel to Onondaga CC for its next match on Saturday at 3 p.m.
