The GCC men's soccer team started the fall season with a victory, winning 9-0 on the road at Mercyhurst North East on Thursday afternoon.
It took less than a minute for Genesee to grab the lead as William Stone put the Cougars in front just 58-seconds in to the first half.
Ricard Fernandez-Sarro scored his first of three goals in the fourth minute to give Genesee a 2-0 lead before Darius Johnson added two goals and Habib Balarabe scored once to give the Cougars a 6-0 lead at halftime.
GCC got goals from Rafael Godai, Stone and Fernandez-Sarro in the second half and held the Saints to just four shots on net in the game.
Connor Halstead made four saves to earn the shutout win in net.
Genesee (1-0) will travel to the Herkimer College tournament this weekend and play Prince George's Community College on Saturday at 4:45 p.m.
