The No. 4 nationally-ranked Cougars men's lacrosse team earned its second straight road win to start the season, knocking off No. 6 Anne Arundel CC (Md.) on Thursday night, 20-6.
Genesee got off to another fast start and built a 6-0 lead after the first quarter.
The Cougars matched their first quarter goal total in the second period, stretching their lead to 12-2 at the half.
Goalie Darin Eakins held the Riverhawks in check, making 15 saves in three quarters of work to earn his second win of the season.
GCC outscored AACC 8-4 in the final two quarters and tallied 20 or more goals for the second time in as many games to start the season.
Jacob Bomberry finished the night with four goals and four assists to total eight points. Brody Jorgenson and Pat Van Bortle each scored four goals and added an assist, Davis Prince scored a goal and assisted on three, John Jimerson added a goal and two assists, Nick Lavoy scored twice and Jonah Mohawk chipped in a goal and an assist.
Mike Caternolo finished 17 of 28 on face-offs and led the team with nine ground balls. Alex Henry led the defense with five ground balls and four takeaways and Jake Wittmeyer had four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Genesee (2-0) will stay on the road and visit No. 2 CCBC-Essex on Saturday at 12 p.m.
