Genesee Falls to Onondaga in National Final Four

BALTIMORE,MD: The No. 4 nationally-ranked Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team lost its National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament semifinals matchup against No. 1 Onondaga Community College on Saturday afternoon, 17-6.

Genesee took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game when Jimmy Smith scored unassisted.

OCC answered with a goal just 15-seconds later and took a 2-1 lead at the 8:09 mark of the first quarter and did not surrender the lead the rest of the afternoon.

Genesee trailed 8-4 at the half and was held to just two second half goals.

Jacob Bomberry had two goals and an assist and Cameron Seneca scored twice. Mitchell Kinney scored once and along with a goal, Smith also had one assist.

Bomberry led GCC with five ground balls and Kyle Fabian had two takeaways.

Corey Luty played all 60-minutes in net and made eight saves.

Genesee finishes the year with a 12-5 overall record.
