No. 4 Cougars Hold Off No. 9 Lakers to End Regular Season

The No. 4 Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team held off No. 9 Finger Lakes Community College 16-10 on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the regular season for GCC.

Genesee built a 10-3 lead after the first half but penalties in the third quarter kept the game close. The Cougars were able to fend off the Lakers in the fourth and are now on a six-game winning streak.

Cameron Seneca had five goals and an assist, Cyrus Spruce finished with a hat trick and an assist, Colton Reformat added three goals and an assist and Jimmy Smith had two goals and an assist.

Reformat also led the team with eight ground balls and was 9 for 11 on face-offs. Ray Tague went 11 for 14 on face-offs and Reed Hnidy led the defense with six ground balls, four takeaways and also scored a goal.

Corey Luty made six saves in net in one half of play.

Genesee (9-3) will now play in the Region III playoffs and host a quarterfinals game on Wednesday. Opponent and game time to be announced.
