The No. 4 Cougars won their second game in a row on Saturday afternoon defeating visiting No. 6 Howard Community College 11-6 to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Howard cut the Genesee lead down to one with a goal late in the opening frame but the Cougars re-took a two goal advantage just over a minute into the second quarter when Cyrus Spruce scored his first of three goals on the afternoon.
HCC scored back-to-back goals with the man advantage to tie the game at three before Genesee scored five unanswered goals, including the only two goals of the third quarter, to take control.
GCC ended the game scoring five out of the eight goals registered in the final quarter to earn the victory.
Spruce finished with a hat trick and two ground balls, Brody Jorgenson added two goals, went 3-3 on face-offs and caused a turnover, Cameron Seneca also added two goals and Wester finished with a goal and two ground balls.
Genesee will return to action on Mar. 28 against No. 1 Onondaga Community College at home beginning at 1 p.m.
