No. 4 Genesee Rolls No. 9 Monroe

The No. 4 Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team evened its record at 2-2 this season with a 19-5 win over visiting No. 9 Monroe Community College on Wednesday afternoon.

Mitchell Kinney scored twice in the first five-minutes of the game to put the Cougars in front early on. Cyrus Spruce then scored three straight times and Genesee led 5-0 after one.

GCC controlled the game the rest of the way and led 11-0 at the half, 14-2 after three quarters and won by a 14-goal edge.

Corey Luty made seven saves in net during 45-minutes of work and Brian Thielman played the final quarter and stopped three shots.

In all, 11 Cougars tallied at least one point. Spruce ended the night with seven goals and two assists, Jacob Bomberry scored twice and had four assists, Drew Horton added two goals and Cameron Seneca, Nick Lavoy, Alex Henry, John Jimerson, Dan Telban and JoVanni Klimowicz each added a goal apiece.

Colton Reformat went 9-9 on face-offs and had six ground balls and an assist. Mike Caternolo went 6-8 on face-offs and had six ground balls and Reed Hnidy led the defense with five takeaways.

Genesee will return to action at home on Saturday against No. 6 Howard Community College at 1 p.m.
