No. 4 Genesee Hosts No. 3 CCBC-Essex in Season Opener on Saturday

The No. 4 Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team will begin its 2015 season at home on Saturday against No. 3 Community College of Baltimore County-Essex for a noon start.

Genesee enters the spring in the top ten of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Poll for the fourth consecutive season. Freshman attack Jacob Bomberry and freshman midfielder Brody Jorgenson were both recognized by Inside Lacrosse as preseason All-Americans.

CCBC-Essex enters the spring after a 14-3 season a year ago, which included a trip to the NJCAA Final Four. The Knights defeated GCC last season at home and last made the trip to Genesee in 2013, a game the Cougars won in double overtime.

Saturday will mark the first of eight scheduled home games this spring for GCC and the Cougars are looking to make a return to the NJCAA National Tournament after an absence last spring. For updates and results, follow Genesee Athletics on Twitter: @GCCSports.
