Cougars Drop Hornets on the Road

The Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team kicked off its regular season-ending road trip with a 21-7 victory at Broome Community College on Wednesday afternoon.

Lukas Baildon started the GCC scoring just 40-seconds into the first quarter to put the Cougars in front 1-0.

Genesee took a 5-0 lead after the first, with goals from Nick Gray, Tyler Skowronski and Dana Ray, who scored two of his eight goals in the game in the first quarter.

The Cougars built a 10-4 lead in the second quarter after Chris Lommer, Doug Ellsworth, Jimmy Smith and Mitchel Kinney each scored for Genesee.

The second half was more of the same, as Kyle Friesner and Pete DiLaura jumped in on the scoring action and Ray burried four more goals.

Mark Pucek made eight saves in net for GCC in the first half and Craig Seneca stopped six shots in the second half.

Ben Madafferi went 11 for 17 on face-offs and Gray went six of eight, also adding four goals and four assists.

Along with his eight goals, Ray added two assists, Skowronski finished with two goals and four assists and Tracy Maracle led the defense with five ground balls and two takeaways.

The Cougars will conclude their regular season on Saturday at Finger Lakes Community College. Face-off is slated for 1pm.
