The No. 7 ranked Cougars men's lacrosse team will play host to No. 3 Nassau Community College on Saturday, marking the first of two straight home games for GCC.
Genesee (6-3) will play its sixth opponent ranked in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) top ten National Poll this year. The Cougars are 2-3 in games against ranked teams.
Nassau (8-1) begins a three-game road trip on Saturday and the Lions have won their last seven games.
Last time out:
Genesee defeated Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday, 25-1. The Cougars had 15 different players record at least one point in the game. Tyler Godfrey led the way with four goals and two assists and Dana Ray had five assists and one goal.
GCC led 10-0 after the first quarter and outscored Mohawk Valley 11-0 in the second half.
Nassau downed No. 10 Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville 18-4 on Mar. 30. The Lions fell behind 2-0 early, but rallied to score eight straight to take the lead for good.
Travis Wahl and Shane DeBoer scored four goals each and Jake Siciliano made 10 saves in net for NCC.
What to watch for:
Nassau and Genesee are the fourth and fifth ranked teams in terms of scoring in all of the NJCAA this season.
The last time GCC and NCC met was the 2013 NJCAA National Semifinals. Nassau defeated Genesee 15-6 to advance to the national championship game (lost to Onondaga CC, 15-11).
