Cougars roll Past Mohawk Valley

It took just 31-seconds for the no. 7 Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team to take the lead on Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday afternoon, and the Cougars did not look back, picking up a 25-1 road win.

Dana Ray scored GCC's first goal less than a minute into the first quarter off of a feed from Tyler Godfrey. Godfrey then scored one of his four goals in the game a minute later and then ten seconds after that, Tyler Meegan made it 3-0. The Cougars ended the first quarter scoring 10 goals and led 10-0 heading into the second quarter.

Lukas Baildon, Quinn Halligan, Kyler Friesner and Nick Gray all scored for GCC in the second quarter and the Cougars led 14-1 at the half.

The second half was all Genesee, which got help at the face-off circle from Ben Madaferri who went 24-30 and collected 14 ground balls.

Craig Seneca made four saves during the first half in goal and Mark Pucek finished the game and made four saves during the second half.

Godfrey led the Cougars with four goals and two assists, Ray finished with a goal and five assists, Gray added three goals and two assists, Friesner and Joshua Wester each scored three goals and Mitchel Kinney chipped in a goal and two assists.

Baildon and Meegan each collected seven ground balls and Jesse Jimerson and Evan Horton had three takeaways and six ground balls apiece.

Genesee (6-3, 2-0) will return to action at home on Saturday at noon against no. 3 Nassau Community College.
