Riding a two-game winning streak, the no. 6 Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team will host Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) rival Niagara County Community College on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
Genesee (4-2, 1-0) is coming off of a record-setting win against Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday and defeated Monroe Community College in its first conference game of the year on Mar. 19.
Niagara (0-3, 0-0) has lost its first three games of the season and Wednesday will mark the first WNYAC game of the year for the Thunderwolves.
Last time out:
Genesee scored a single-game school record 28 goals in a 28-2 win over HVCC. Tyler Godfrey scored six times for GCC and also added an assist. Chris Lommer added four goals, and a total of 16 different Cougars scored in the game (recap).
Niagara lost on the road at no. 5 Anne Arundel Community College, 20-1. Max Antone scored the lone goal for NCCC and goalkeeper Joe Healy stopped 36 of the 56 shots he faced.
What to watch for:
In the last matchup between GCC and NCCC (4/2/13), GCC tied the previous school record for most goals in a game in a 27-1 victory.
Genesee has won the last three meetings against Niagara and the Cougars have held the Thunderwolves to an average of just 3.3 goals per game since the 2010 season.
