The GCC men's basketball team used balanced scoring on Saturday afternoon to earn its second straight Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) win of the season, after the Cougars dropped visiting Jamestown CC 78-63.
Four players reached double figures in scoring for Genesee, which evened its WNYAC record to .500 with the win.
The game only had three lead changes, and neither team held a lead larger than six in the first half. JCC's largest lead of three happened just a minute and a half into the game, and the Cougars led for the final 36 minutes.
Ladji Fofana led all scorers with 21 points and was 12 of 14 from the free-throw line for the Cougars.
Genesee committed just nine turnovers in the game and despite being minus-11 in rebounding, forced 16 JCC turnovers to limit the Jayhawks.
Brian Fobbs scored 10 of his 17 points in the first half and also grabbed eight rebounds. Rahmel Thompson was 6-8 from the floor and finished with 14 points, Dejean Ellebb scored 11 points to go along with eight rebounds, and Brandon Peters, who was a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line, added eight points and dished out four assists.
The win evens GCC's WNYAC record at 2-2 and overall record at 11-11. The Cougars will head to Mercyhurst North East for its next contest on Wednesday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
