After losing three of its last four games, the Genesee Community College men's basketball team got back on track by beating Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) opponent Jamestown Community College-Olean on Saturday afternoon, 94-70.
Genesee led most of the way in its regular season finale, holding its largest lead of 26 late in the second half.
Six players posted double-figures in points for the Cougars, led by Lamel Faison who finished with 18 including five 3pt baskets. Devante Carolina added 16 points and five assists, Rahsaan Williams had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Tarik Allicock finished with 12 rebounds and 11 points, Terrence Brown chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds and Anthony Williams added 10 points and four assists.
GCC collected a season-high 63 rebounds in the game and recorded its largest assists total (20) since Jan 5. The Jaguars converted on just eight of 41 three-point attempts.
Genesee improves to 6-6 in WNYAC play and 19-9 overall with the win and will await seeding and pairings for the Region III tournament, which begins on Feb. 23.
