Genesee Holds on to Beat Niagara

The Genesee Community College men's basketball team won its third game in a row on Thursday night, holding on to beat Niagara County CC 78-72.

GCC led by 12 with 1:33 left in the game, but saw its lead shrink to just two with 16-seconds remaining. A Terrence Brown layup put the Cougars in front 72-60, but the Thunderwolves went on a 12-2 run in just over a minute to get to within 74-72.

Alex Morris and Didier Antoine each converted a pair of free-throws in the final seconds to ice the game, helping GCC to even its record in Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) play at 3-3.

Anthony Williams ended the night with a game high 18 points for Genesee. Antoine added 16 points and nine rebounds, Morris finished with 15 points and nine boards and went four-for-four at the free-throw line. Brown added 11 points and Rahsaan Williams chipped in seven points and blocked five shots.

GCC was plus-16 in rebounding and blocked a total of 10 shots on the night.

Genesee (16-6, 3-3) will return to action at home on Saturday against Jamestown CC. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
