After snapping a four game losing streak with a win on Saturday at Jamestown-Olean, the GCC men's basketball team made it two in a row by dropping No. 20 Mercyhurst North East at home on Tuesday night, 86-78.
Mercyhurst came into Tuesday night riding an 11-game win streak, but Genesee shot better than 58-percent from the floor in the second half to erase a seven point deficit and earn its second Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) win of the season.
Alex Morris began the game just 1-11 from the field, but went 9-10 in the second half and finished with a game high 32 points to help lift GCC.
The Cougars trailed by two at the half but took the 14th and final lead change of the game with just over 14-minutes to play in the game on a pair of Morris free-throws.
Anthony Williams added 16 second half points and 19 total for the game, along with six assists. Terrence Brown recorded the game's only double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds and Rahsaan Williams, Devante Carolina and Amancho Adopo each added five points apiece.
Genesee (15-6, 2-3) converted on 10 of 22 shots from three-point range and will return to action at home on Thursday against Niagara County CC. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
