The Genesee Community College men's basketball team will begin a four-game homestand on Tuesday night when the Cougars host Mercyhurst North East. A makeup date for a contest postponed by weather on Jan. 12, Tuesday night's matchup will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
Genesee (14-6, 1-3) recently snapped a four-game losing streak and will host its second Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) game of the season on Tuesday night.
Mercyhurst NE (15-4, 3-0) has won 11 straight games including three in a row to begin WNYAC play.
LAST TIME OUT:
GCC won 84-71 on the road at Jamestown CC-Olean on Jan. 23, ending a four-game slide. Alex Morris scored a team high 22 points, 17 of which came in the second half. Terrence Brown scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Didier Antoine finished with 11 points and 11 boards. Genesee shot better than 48-percent from the field, its highest total in the last seven games.
MNE earned a non-conference win over Villa Maria College at home on Jan. 23, 87-79. Four Saints scored in double figures, led by Gerrell Williams who finished with 20 and 10 rebounds. Omar Little Jr. added 16 points, Johnell Free scored 14 points and had five assists and Shequon Lindsey finished with 12 points and six rebounds.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
GCC and MNE split two games last season, with each team winning at home.
The Saints' current 11 game winning streak is the longest in the program's history.
Genesee is 7-1 at home this season.
