No. 14 Cougars Roll Spartans to Start New Year

No. 14 nationally-ranked Genesee kicked off the second semester with a 99-50 win over visiting Cayuga Community College on Tuesday night, improving to 11-3 on the season and 6-0 against the Spartans since 2011.

All five starters scored in double-figures for the Cougars, led by Terrence Brown who finished with a game high 21.

GCC jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game and never trailed, holding the Spartans to just 25-percent shooting from the field.

Devante Carolina scored six of the first nine GCC points and ended the night with 19, including 3-6 from three-point range. Anthony Williams was one of three Cougars that recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points and adding 11 assists.

Rahsaan Williams Tarik Allicock and combined for 29 of Genesee's 54 rebounds in the game, collecting 15 and 14 respectively. Williams also scored 11 points and Allicock added 13.

Amancho Adopo came off the bench to score eight points and collect six boards and Jordan Coleson finished with six points and four rebounds.

The Cougars will return to action at home on Thursday afternoon against Herkimer College. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
