No. 18 Cougars Sweep Holiday Classic

The No. 18 nationally-ranked Cougars swept both games in their holiday classic tournament this weekend, defeating Community College of Rhode Island 97-75 on Saturday and ASA College 85-77 on Sunday.

Six scorers reached double figures against CCRI, led by Tarik Allicock with 13 points. He also grabbed 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Didier Antoine also finished with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 boards and Anthony Williams, Lamel Faison and Devante Carolina each scored 12 points. Williams also dished out six assists and Alex Morris added 10 points.

GCC was plus-17 in rebounding against the Knights.

The Cougars got off to a 20-2 start against ASA Sunday and despite allowing the Avengers to within four at one point, held on for the win.

Antoine led another balanced attack with 17 points and seven rebounds, Morris chipped in 16 points and six boards, Williams had 15 points and nine assists and Terence Brown finished with 15 points and five rebounds.

The Cougars converted eight of 18 shots from 3-pt range.

Antoine was named the tournament's MVP and Morris and Williams were named to the all-tournament team.

Genesee (8-1) travels to Lakeland CC on Wednesday for its next contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
