The GCC men's basketball team battled to a 63-60 win over visiting Cuyahoga CC on Saturday afternoon and used balanced scoring once again to earn its fifth win of the season.
The Cougars converted 21 of 30 free-throw attempts in the game and managed 14 points off of turnovers to edge the Challengers.
Neither team led by more than seven in the game and exchanged leads a total of 20 times with 10 ties throughout the afternoon.
Alex Morris led Genesee with 13 points and hit one of only two 3-pt baskets for the Cougars. Morris also collected six rebounds and dished out four assists.
GCC took the lead for good with 8:47 to play in the second half when Demitri Stewart scored two of his three points on a layup to put the Cougars in front 49-47. Anthony Williams converted a couple of free-throws down the stretch to ice the game.
Williams finished with 10 points and a game high seven assists, Terrence Brown added nine points, Jordan Coleson chipped in seven points and grabbed three rebounds, Tarik Allicock and Devante Carolina each finished with six points apiece and Didier Antoine collected eight rebounds.
Genesee (5-1) will play again at home on Dec. 9 against Villa Maria College at 7:30 P.M.
