Genesee Community College head baseball coach Skip Sherman recently announced the additions of five student-athletes to the incoming recruiting class for 2014-2015.
Pitcher/infielder Adam Tucker, pitcher/first baseman Edgar Cruz, infielder Jordan Castro, pitcher Gabriel Baez and pitcher Hector Gomez all signed National Letters of Intent to join the GCC baseball program beginning this fall.
Tucker, a graduate of Williamsville South High School, joins the Cougars after playing three years at the varsity level for Coach Kraig Kurzanski at WSHS. During his senior season, Tucker hit .375 at the plate and held opponents to a .137 batting average against on the mound as a pitcher.
Cruz, Castro, Baez and Gomez will join the program as graduates of A. Phillip Randolph Campus High School in New York City. All were members of the A. Phillip Randolph Campus High School's 2013 PSAL championship team.
Cruz will compete for a spot in the infield and on the mound and will study Health Studies at GCC.
Castro can play both middle infield positions as well as third base. He is undecided on his intended major.
Baez will compete for a spot in the starting rotation. He plans to study Physical Therapy at GCC.
Gomez will also compete for a starting spot on the mound. He plans to major in Business Administration.
